It is important to point out to the customer any limitation in the cover or significant or unusually exclusions.
For mortgage protection payment insurance the exclusion which causes the most confusing is the pre-existing condition clause. Again this can be dealt with in statement form, such as,
- I realise that I will not be able to claim for anything I already know about (such as a medical condition), or anything that is caused by any illegal or deliberate acts.
Other notable exclusions would be back and mental conditions.
These statement types should be used to indicate if the mortgage protection insurance coverage is different for specific groups such as self-employed or contract workers.
