Many life offices issue polices that are valid no matter what country the life insured lives in. However when the risk is underwritten the life office will take into account the country of domicile of the life insured and may need to take into account political, stability and war risks.   Examples from time to time have been parts of Africa, Middle East and Southern Asia. The proposer’s reason for living abroad and perhaps their occupation may have an impact on the risk. For instance a police inspector may present a higher risk than an engineer.

Tropical countries may present a higher health risk due to poor sanitation, tropical diseases and in some cases less sophisticated medical facilities. Working in isolated areas my represent greater risk.

If there is no intention to move abroad then the life office may issue a world wide policy at no extra premium charge.
